An overview of ethno-ichthyological practices in Turkey and the World

Abstract

In this study, the relationships between fishes and humans from the past to the present were investigated and compiled in detail. In other words, in traditional knowledge, it is aimed to leave a source for the future by transporting which fish are used to treat which disease to the present day. Information about the most widely known and still applied treatments in our country is presented. The first study was conducted in order to understand not only medically, but also ethnicity, and to reveal how people use fish in areas such as entertainment, some chemical products, ornaments, food, and to ensure that traditional knowledge is passed on to future generations. The research also benefited from ethnoihtiological values both in our country and in other countries.
