Use of Medicinal Plants in Landscape Architecture Design
Abstract
In this study, it is aimed to identify the plants used for medicinal purposes, to increase the use of landscape design by focusing on visually effective species from these plants and is intended to reveal their local names in Nigde city and the surrounding villages which is located in central Anatolia Region of Turkey. The study was carried out between 2018-2019. In this period, 66 plant species were determined. These plants are used by local people according to the variety of plants, leaves, flowers, branches and fruits.
The identified plants are classified according to their use in landscaping as border plant and as ground cover. People living in the city center give more importance to visually effective and imported plants, while those who live in high places (villages) focus on the use of plants, natural plants, which are used for medical purposes. The aim is to increase the use of medicinal plants, regardless of location, to ensure the sustainability of native plants. Keywords
